Stateside Visa Renewal Pilot Program Begins January 29, 2024

Department of State Stateside Visa Renewal Pilot Program Begins January 29, 2024, allowing H-1B visa holders to renew visas without leaving the United States. The pilot program ends on April 1, 2024, allowing the agency to test their technical and operational ability to resume domestic visa renewals for certain nonimmigrant visa.

The pilot program is for H-1B principal applicants who are seeking to renew visas during the pilot program period and are eligible for an in-person visa interview waiver, have an approved and unexpired H-1B petition, were most recently admitted to the US in H-1B status that has not expired and intend to enter the US in H-1B status after a temporary period abroad.

DOS will begin accepting online applications for the pilot program on January 29, 2024 through a dedicated website.
