Premium Processing Updated

Premium Processing has been expanded by USCIS to nonimmigrants that are looking for a change of status to academic student visas (F-1, F-2), vocational student visas (M-1, M-2), and work/study visas (J-1, J-2).

Applicants for those visa categories will be able to apply for premium processing only as a change of status, not the initial visa application. It will also be unavailable for M-1 or M-2 extensions.

As of June 26, 2023, USCIS is accepting Form I-907 requests filed both physically and digitally for the above changes of status for pending and new Form I-539 requests.

Premium processing in these categories requires biometrics from all applicants and co-applicants to be submitted before the timeline for Premium Processing will begin. This means that the actual processing of your application will not begin until your biometrics appointment has been had, even if the fees have already been paid. According to USCIS, “USCIS may reject an applicant’s Form I-907 and/or Form I-539 if submitted with another benefit request, including multiple Forms I-907 requests filed together.”
