January Visa Bulletin Shows Advancement in Employment-Based Categories 

The U.S. State Department recently released the January 2024 Visa Bulletin, revealing significant advancements in key employment-based categories. While U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has yet to announce the criteria for determining filing eligibility, the bulletin provides valuable insights. 


In the Final Action Dates category, notable movements include EB-1 advancements for China (July 1, 2022) and India (September 1, 2020). EB-2 also saw progress, with China moving to January 1, 2020, and India advancing to March 1, 2012. EB-3 experienced significant movement for China (September 1, 2020) and India (June 1, 2012). Other countries under these categories also saw advancements. 


The Dates for Filing section also showed positive changes. China's EB-1 moved to January 1, 2023, and India's to January 1, 2021. In EB-2, China moved to June 1, 2020, while other countries advanced to February 15, 2023. For EB-3, China moved to July 1, 2021, with India remaining at August 1, 2012, and the Philippines remaining at January 1, 2023.
